From time to time, we ask Brenda what she would like to be when she grows up. One of her common responses is that she wants to be a nurse, like her mom. Brenda’s summer camp asked her to dress up like what she wants to be when she grows up. I thought a nurse would be a good choice.
I didn’t have any of her mothers things or even Brenda’s toy doctor kit so I had to be creative. Here is what I was able to do with construction paper.

Nurse Brenda
It is so cute to hear her say stethoscope.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. It is always so cheerful and sunny. It has been bothering me that I never posted pictures of Brenda’s Easter. Brenda really seemed to have fun all that week.
She had a great time at school the week of Easter. Here she is after the school’s Easter egg hunt.

No one wants to deal with children’s tantrums while traveling. If you plan a little, then you can maintain a stress-free family vacation. The main thing is your child has no real concept of time. What may seem like a short trip to you can be intolerable to your child.
Plan your trip so your child’s routine stays as normal as possible. Travel when your child usually sleeps. This way they are rested and better prepared to enjoy the attractions of your destination.
Make sure to have plenty of activities for when your child is awake. Keep switching out age appropriate toys, books, puzzles and art supplies. Plan stops at play grounds and bring outdoor toys so your kids can stretch their legs and release some energy.
Keep your child comfortable. Bring their favorite things, like pillows, blankets, stuffed animals. Make sure you have plenty of snacks and drinks too.
Plan your trip with your child’s needs in mind and you will have a nice and peaceful vacation.

Brenda and I had more fun with food. This time we had number’s and letter’s to play with. I couldn’t find a number four so I made one from an “F” and a bite of something else. I used a letter “P” upsidedown to make letter “D”’s. This was really tasty to make. We used Chef Boyardee ABC’s and 123’s.

Last week Brenda and I went to go to the Metro Zoo. Before going I stopped by a CVS to get her some sunglasses to protect her eyes. I could not find the pair of sunglasses Breanda already has. I figured she could always use another pair. I think we tried on half the sunglasses there. Finally we got this purple pair with Tinker Bell on them.
I Think Brenda Thinks She Likes Her New Sunglasses

- Brenda’s New Sunglasses Have Her Thinking
In this picture Brenda is doing a thinking pose I taught her quite awhile ago. I ask Brenda how she thinks and she will put her pointer finger to her chin and say, “Hmm”. It is really quite cute.

Brenda Spelled In Alpha-bit Cereal
Brenda and I had fun the other day playing with Alpha-bits cereal. We made a few words and Brenda wanted me to make her name. Unfortunately Alpha-bits cereal doesn’t have all the letters of the alphabet. In the past I had told Brenda, “we can’t make your name, not all the letters are here”. This day though I got creative and bit a “B” to make an “E” and took pieces to make and “N”. Brenda and I think it worked out pretty good.

I saw this video on youtube about a phonics system. Just thought I would try and post it, but have come to realize I really need to update my version of WordPress. Here is a link to the youTube video about Miss Jenny’s Phonics System.
Elementary school teacher Jenny Fixman developed a program to teach literacy through song. She visited the Parents TV studio to tell parents how they can use her program. Here is the youTube video about Miss Jenny’s Phonics System again. She also has a website www.edutunes.com where you can find out more and purchase all her products.
I just found this system and wondered what other parent and teacher think of it. Let me know. Are there any systems you recommend?

Brenda has been running a fever this week. Brenda has had a high fever. She has had to take Motrin and bathes almost every six hours. With all the temperature checks and bathes Brenda has had a hard time getting enough sleep. Today she finally crashed out right after her temperature was brought down. She got a nice three hour nap. She is taking it well, but I wish she didn’t have to go through such rough bought.
